Interdisciplinary Integration: Building Large-Scale, Complex, and Trustworthy Digital Service Networks
Jianwei Yin, Zhejiang University
Driven by the advent of next-generation information technologies, digital services are continuously evolving across cloud, edge, and endpoint dimensions. Digital services are transitioning from traditional isolated forms to integrated digital service networks that span the three-dimensional Cyberspace-Physical-Human (CPH) space, featuring heterogeneous service collaboration. These digital service networks exhibit characteristics of cross-network and cross-domain integration, large-scale complexity, trustworthiness, and dynamic adaptability. By facilitating shared collaboration across digital services that span different networks and domains, it is possible to achieve complex integrations of human, machine, and physical resources with software services in the information space. Therefore, research and practical applications targeting digital service networks will contribute to the development of foundational theories and technologies for the next generation of the service industry. Specifically, on the one hand, the design and construction of digital service networks will advance service digital transformation, offering efficient cross-network and cross-domain comprehensive service systems across various industries. On the other hand, the applications, governance, and regulation of digital service networks will help establish a trustworthy service ecosystem, promoting the in-depth development of the modern service industry and significantly impacting digital economy, national livelihood, and social progress. This keynote speech focuses on two key scientific problems: “Intelligent and Simple Design and Efficient Construction Mechanisms for Cloud-Edge-End Collaboration in Digital Service Networks” and “Mechanisms for Mutual Trust and Collaborative Application and Regulation throughout the Digital Service Networks’ Lifecycle”. We seek to explore comprehensively the design, construction, application, and governance of digital service networks, targeting breakthroughs in key technologies such as “Intelligent Simple Design”, “Efficient Construction”, “Reliable Application”, and “Mutual Trust and Co-Governance”. Special emphasis will be placed on research findings related to the simulation of service network dynamic evolution, the integrated management of cloud-edge-end service networks, trustworthy service transactions, and the collaborative mechanisms based on AI of monitoring, management, and governance. Additionally, the speech will showcase prototype systems and demonstration applications in large-scale, complex, trustworthy digital service networks across several sectors, including smart healthcare, smart homes, and smart governance. The shared insights aim to lay down the foundational theories, engineering methods, and crucial infrastructure essential for the building and healthy advancement of the modern service industry ecosystem, emphasizing the synergy between mutual trust, application, and regulation.
